Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in the West Island of Montreal is an example of a "sleepy" location. Many people unfamiliar with the word tend to think it's a isolated island to the west of Montreal however, the West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the town of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to originate from the West Island, although this does not exist. Brugel had a childhood in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. Her first ambition was to become a performer, but she literally outgrew the dancing partners. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. Once I outgrew male partners I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting, and Brugel was not an exception. A drama teacher at her high school helped push to Brugel into the direction she needed. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. She tried out to play the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. She was given a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program in 2000. She graduated in 2000 with a degree in Fine Arts. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 shows with big screen and smaller ones. She received the greatest attention when she was cast in her role as Rita of the acclaim-winning show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian participant for Season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
