Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress as well as producer and director. Her work has been recognized for films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. She won several awards like an Oscar for the film Piano. In her early years she began playing on stage for a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. Since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. Mumps made her lose hearing in one of her ears, but this did not stop her from pursuing her dream. As a young woman she took classes in drama at college and moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could pursue her ambitions. Hunter was introduced to Beth Henley by chance in the lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. It was Hunter's acting debut. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure an acting role as a support on Swing Shift. She has since appeared in numerous television series, films and movies over the course of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
