Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is renowned for her performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her an Oscar. The successful actress began her career in acting in the theatre with an array of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Enthusiastic about acting from her school days she played Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. Mumps caused her to be deaf and blind in one ear. However, she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actress. When she was in college studying drama, she moved to New York City with her ambitions to achieve them. Hunter had her Broadway debut following an accidental encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. Her first film role came when she moved in Los Angeles. She has since appeared in a variety of TV movies and series over a career spanning over three decades. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
